Sand storm.
This week in San Francisco, and on the West Coast in general, a powerful storm has brought huge waves, and high winds. Along the west side of 'the City' runs the Great Highway, a long straight boulevard that parallels the coast and offers great views and access to the cold but scenic beach. In this weather event though, the sand had blown up and onto the roadway forcing the city to close the road. The 70 mile per hour wind gusts were also a danger to cars, plus the blowing sand would just sand-blast the paint off a car anyway... The city is now cleaning the roadway, which is several miles long, and putting the sand back where it belongs...
