Old and new in Milano Italy, like most cities of the world that have been around awhile, the old buildings are now falling in the shadow of new structures. Milano is a city in which design is important, there has been always a looking to the future or the 'new'. Americans like to see the old world and try to mimic it here, but Italians are looking to the future. Why look back? Why maintain the old idea, look to the new and exciting future.
Americans spend a fortune installing Italian tile and try to fake the look of the Italian country side. All things Tuscan (though Umbria is a better region) seem to flood America. Of course most Americans have no idea for what is truly Tuscan or Italian for that matter. I guess that is why Olive Garden Restaurants survive (if you have never been to one of those food hells, DON"T GO!!!).
