Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country’s forces are advancing in Russia’s Kursk region by 1 to 2 kilometers (about .6 to 1.2 miles) since the beginning of the day on Wednesday.
“We are advancing in the Kursk region, 1 to 2 kilometers in various areas since the beginning of the day,” Zelensky said in a video call with the Ukrainian military chief Oleksandr Syrskyi on Wednesday.
Zelensky also said that 100 Russian servicemen have also been captured, adding that this will “accelerate the return of our guys and girls.”
Syrskyi said in the call with Zelensky that the main efforts are concentrated on the Toretsk and Pokrovsk directions to “prevent the enemy from advancing and inflicting maximum losses.”
Earlier, video posted by AFP at the Ukrainian border crossing between Ukraine’s Sumy region and Russia’s Kursk region showed a Ukrainian truck carrying blindfolded men in Russian military uniform traveling away from the Russian border.
CNN has reached out to Ukrainian military on the video.
