Kamala Harris speech

Kamala Harris opened tonight’s speech by talking about her family. She talked about the lessons her mom taught her, including to “never do anything half-assed.”
“She taught Maya and me a lesson that Michelle mentioned the other night. She taught us to never complain about injustice, but do something about it. Do something about it. That was my mother. And also taught us never do anything half-assed. And that is a direct quote,” Harris said — prompting laughter and claps from the audience.
After delivering a familiar stump speech over the last month, Harris unveiled new pieces of her story in tonight’s speech. She talked about other people in her life who influenced her, not “family by blood” but “family by love.”
