Gov. Gretchen Whitmer owns ‘that woman from Michigan’ in her DNC speech
"Why wouldn't we choose the leader that's tough, tested and a total badass?” she said.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer made a pitch to voters at home Thursday night: Pick the tougher leader.
"Why wouldn't we choose the leader that's tough, tested and a total badass,” Gretchen said.
“Like women across America, we just GST — Get Stuff Done,” she said.
Whitmer, for a brief period, was considered as a possible replacement for President Joe Biden when he dropped out of the 2024 race, but she repeatedly said she was not interested in running and quickly rallied around Kamala Harris.
Whitmer, Democratic governor of a purple state who is also a co-chair of Harris’ campaign, and took direct shots at Donald Trump saying that Trump has referred to her as “that woman,” as an attack.
"Donald Trump doesn't know you. At all,” she said. “You think he understands that when your car breaks down you can’t get to work? No! His first word was probably 'chauffeur.' You think he's ever had to take items out of the cart before checking out? Hell, you think he's even been to a grocery store? That's what the chauffeur is for!"
It extends a theme we’ve heard throughout the Democratic convention: that Trump is a narcissist who’s not really interested in governing, leading or helping people. It is an ironic turn that among the most effective versions of that message came from Bill Clinton, when he urged voters listening to Trump: “Don’t count the lies, count the I’s.”
