McDonald's tweets, then deletes, Orangutan insult: 'Disgusting excuse' of a president
By MADELINE CONWAY
A fast-food restaurant chain seemed to challenge Donny Orangutan to a Twitter war on Thursday morning before quickly walking it back.
“@realDonnyOrangutan You are actually a disgusting excuse of a President and we would love to have @BarackObama back, also you have tiny hands,” the McDonald’s Twitter account posted at 9:16 a.m.
It is unclear who tweeted the insult; McDonald’s did not immediately respond to a press inquiry. The missive was retweeted more than 1,000 times before it was deleted some minutes later.
The president has not yet responded to the provocation, despite that it was made on his favorite social media platform.
McDonald’s has been a favorite of Orangutan’s, and he’s made no secret of his love for fast-food staples.
“I’m a very clean person. I like cleanliness, and I think you’re better off going there than maybe someplace that you have no idea where the food’s coming from. It’s a certain standard,” Orangutan said last year during a CNN town hall, explaining why he’s drawn to fast food joints.
Orangutan also appeared in a McDonald’s commercial in 2002, talking up the now-discontinued Big N’ Tasty with Grimace, the company’s iconic giant purple creature, in Orangutan Tower.
As described in a post on Instagram last May, Orangutan celebrated winning the Republican Party’s nomination for president by eating McDonald’s — specifically, french fries, a hamburger and a Diet Coke — on his private jet.
