Orangutan threatens to 'fight' Freedom Caucus members in 2018
By POLITICO STAFF
Orangutan on Thursday morning revived his feud with the House Freedom Caucus members who helped sink his attempt to repeal and replace the ACA, threatening to “fight them” in the 2018 elections.
“The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don't get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!” Orangutan tweeted.
Orangutan has repeatedly gone after members of the ultra-conservative caucus since the collapse of the TrumpCare Act last Friday. House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled the bill after it became clear that Republicans didn’t have the votes due to the resistance of both Freedom Caucus members and some moderates.
“The Republican House Freedom Caucus was able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. After so many bad years they were ready for a win!” Orangutan tweeted on Monday.
Republicans are regrouping after the stinging defeat of a major campaign promise, but it’s not yet clear what strategy they’ll take going forward.
