Trump mocks Cruz for his 'Howard Dean moment'
By Eliza Collins
The Donald Trump insult machine cranked back up on Tuesday, with the real estate mogul snarking that Ted Cruz's roughly half-hour victory speech amounted to a "Howard Dean moment."
“Anybody who watched all of Ted Cruz's far too long, rambling, overly flamboyant speech last nite would say that was his Howard Dean moment!” Trump tweeted Tuesday afternoon.
Dean is still trying to live down the infamous scream-growl he let out on stage the night of the Iowa caucuses in 2004, in which he finished a disappointing third.
Trump’s tweet on Tuesday is part of a series of messages defending his campaign in the wake of a second-place finish in Iowa Monday night, 4 points behind the Texas senator and just 1 point ahead of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
After votes were counted on Monday night, Trump pledged that he would still go on to win the White House, and then spent 15 hours silent on Twitter — a long time for the notorious social media user. When he came back, he went on a tear, trying to spin his loss as not all that bad.
