Trump Says He Would Temporarily Halt All New Federal Regulations

Republican nominee Donald Trump would impose a temporary ban on new federal agency regulations if he is elected president, part of an economic plan he unveiled Monday that aims to provide regulatory relief to small businesses.
“Upon taking office, I will issue a temporary moratorium on new agency regulations,” Trump said during a speech at the Detroit Economic Club. “I will ask each and every federal agency to prepare a list of all of the regulations they impose on Americans which are not necessary, do not improve public safety, and which needlessly kill many, many jobs. Those regulations will be eliminated quickly.”
He compared the proposed moratorium to a measure signed into law by his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, and pointed to the auto manufacturing industry as an example of one hampered by regulatory bloat.
“As with taxes, I will have one overriding goal when it comes to regulation: I want jobs and I want wealth to stay in America,” Trump said. “It is time to remove the anchor dragging us down, and that’s what it’s doing — it’s dragging us down.”
Trump also said he would immediately scrap “illegal and overreaching” executive orders. “We are in a competition with the world, and I want America to win,” he said. “We don’t win anymore, but when I am president, we will start winning again, big-league.”
