Trump on ground troops: 'I would send them in quietly'

While Donald Trump on Wednesday did not necessarily disagree with President Barack Obama's decision to send 250 additional special operations troops to Syria, the self-described presumptive Republican nominee said he would not broadcast the decision as Obama did earlier this week.

"Well, I could agree with it, but I don't agree with telling it to the world. I would send them in quietly," Trump said in a telephone interview with CNN's "New Day." "Right now they have a target on their back. So I would agree with it much more [if it were done quietly]."

Trump then said he did not know "what purpose they're being extended for, but I would agree with it."

"I can live with it, but I don't like doing is sending them in so -- I mean, with such fanfare," Trump said. "Let them go in, go in quietly. Be unpredictable, but I just -- from my standpoint, I find it very, very hard every time we do something we announce it for publicity reasons, and I think that's very negative. I think it's a bad thing."
