Harry Reid: 'I agree with Donald Trump' on Tom Brady

There might be only one thing in which Donald Trump and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid can find common ground — and that’s deflategate.

Reid and Trump find themselves on the same side of the bitter controversy over a decision Monday by a federal appeals court to uphold the NFL's suspension of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for allegedly using under-inflated footballs in the AFC championship game.

During a news conference at the Capitol on Tuesday, Reid perked reporters' ears when he said "I agree with Donald Trump. Leave Tom Brady alone." He continued, “So he put not enough air in a football. Big deal ... leave him alone,” parroting Trump's response to the court's decision during a campaign rally in Warwick, R.I., on Monday.

“First of all, let’s start by saying, leave Tom Brady alone! He’s a great guy. Leave Tom Brady alone,” Trump said. Brady has made no secret that he is good friends with Trump but has said his praise for the real estate mogul is not an endorsement.

Reid has also previously criticized the NFL's deflategate scandal. Last year, he blasted the NFL for prioritizing the football fiasco over renaming Washington's football franchise.

“I find it stunning that the National Football League is more concerned about how much air is in a football than with a racist franchise name that denigrates Native Americans across the country,” Reid said at the time.
