Elon Musk put another $44M into his super PAC in early October

Elon Musk put another $43.6 million into his super PAC boosting Donald Trump in early October, new campaign finance filings show.
The new contributions, reported in a Thursday night filing with the Federal Election Commission, bring Musk’s total contributions to the group to more than $118 million. Musk has been deeply involved with the group, America PAC, appearing at several recent campaign events in Pennsylvania.
America PAC has primarily spent on canvassing to boost Trump’s operation in swing states, although it made its first traditional ad buy on Thursday, with a small radio booking in North Carolina, according to the ad tracking firm AdImpact. In the last week, it also offered a $1 million daily sweepstakes for swing-state voters who signed a petition, although that attracted a warning from the Justice Department.
Musk, the wealthiest man in the world, made only small campaign donations in past cycles, at times giving to Democrats. But he has emerged as one of the largest political donors in the country this year, devoting many millions of his own money to boost Trump.
He also dropped $10 million into Senate Republicans’ primary super PAC in early October and has made smaller contributions to several other Republican-affiliated groups.
America PAC in October also received its first contributions from anyone other than Musk: $1 million from billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and $2 million total from former education secretary Betsy DeVos and members of her family.
