Former U.S. President Donald Trump floated giving Elon Musk a job in his administration if he wins re-election in November, he said Monday.
The Republican presidential candidate gave a verbal thumbs up when asked during an interview with Reuters if he would name Musk to an advisory role or Cabinet position.
“He’s a very smart guy. I certainly would, if he would do it, I certainly would. He’s a brilliant guy,” Trump said.
Hours later, tech billionaire Musk posted on social media an AI-generated image of himself standing at a podium and backed by American flags with the caption, “I am willing to serve.”
Musk, who has espoused increasingly conservative views in recent months, officially endorsed Trump last month and interviewed him on his social media platform, X, last week.
