Cain - Trump....

Herman Cain: 'Donald Trump is not a racist'

By Nolan D. McCaskill

Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain lent his voice Wednesday to dispel “one of the biggest lies out there about Donald Trump”: that the billionaire businessman is a racist.

“I wanna set the record straight because that’s what I do, as you know, on my radio show nearly every day,” Cain said Wednesday, speaking before Trump was to address supporters at an Atlanta rally. “Why? Because there are a lot of lies out there. Allow me to set the record straight about one of the biggest lies out there about Donald Trump, and I hope the liberals and the liberal media’s listening.”

“Donald Trump is not a racist,” Cain said to thunderous applause from the crowd. “I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. I know what a racist looks like when I see one, and Donald Trump is not a racist.”

Trump has faced intense criticism from fellow Republicans over his controversial proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the United States and for suggesting that an American federal judge couldn’t preside over two class-action lawsuits against Trump University given his Mexican heritage and Trump’s pledge to build a wall on the southern border at Mexico's expense.

Cain began his remarks in a way only he could.

“Aww shucky ducky. Thank you very much,” he said at the outset of his speech. “This sounds like a shucky ducky kinda crowd on a shucky ducky kinda day here to support an aww shucky ducky kinda candidate. Thank you for being here.”

In 2012, Cain told The Daily Show's John Oliver that the colloquialism "was a way for me to say I am thrilled to be here, and I am happy that you are happy that I'm here."
