Yngling Springtime Championships

It was a marvellous championship set off by a final full of sunshine and winds of 14 - 18 knots. Thirty teams took part from The Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and Slovenia and everyone was extremely pleased with the competition and their stay on Lake Garda, Trentino an area which offers innumerable activities within a small radius.

All eight races were completed with the positions on the podium having been decided on the third and penultimate day with races 5, 6 and 7 running with medium to strong winds from the south. The final race confirmed the leader board of the day as Deen, Oost and Van der Zee almost lost by a breath as compatriots Lieuwe Gietema, Diederik Kuiters and Reinier Tromp reached the top with the same amount of points. They took the silver medal which was so nearly a gold.

2012 winner Jamin Maarten finished in third place, ten points behind the leaders and ten points ahead of Robert-Jan Kentgens, Toine De Leeuw and Einte Kamstra who took fourth place after holding on to the lead on the first two days . They were penalized in the final race and had a false start in the penultimate race.

There was great satisfaction all round this year for the European Yngling Springtime Championships which continue to grow year after year. This year welcomed the participation of Denmark and Sweden.
