On April 17th, 2013, the Senate defeated several gun control measures, including the overwhelmingly popular proposal to expand background checks for firearms purchases. Here’s how each senator voted on the bipartisan proposal by Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Patrick J. Toomey (R-Pa.) that would have expanded background checks to online sales and sales at gun shows. The measure needed 60 votes to pass.
