Yosemite

I saw this image of Yosemite in winter. This is a long shot of El Capitan, a very large piece of granite. Many climbers go up this face each year and from this distance it doesn't look to high, but it is 3,000 feet of vertical rock. In winter, there is often ice on the rock and this make climbing almost impossible. Visiting Yosemite in winter is actually a good time to go, there are very few people and great views, but some of the park is closed due to snow and ice. But if you are interested in just seeing the park from below, do some snow shoeing or XC skiing, think about it.  Summer months become problematic due to crowds.
