Maserati update.
“Latitude 6°South. Maserati is running quickly in the Pacific Ocean towards the North. The Equator is waiting for us with its misleading calm. We have been sailing with full mainsail and spinnaker for a few days now. This is one of those nights illuminated by the stars, dolphins jump alongside the boat, they run with us for a bit and then disappear, agile and graceful as always. Tomorrow we will check the mast and shrouds in view of the close-hauled that awaits us as soon as we enter the northern hemisphere. We expect to meet the high pressure in front of the eastern Pacific coast of the United States; it will give us winds from the East, North-East and then North. The next 1000 miles will be crucial, we will cross the Doldrums (much wider than those of the Atlantic) and then we will meet the trade winds that will take us to San Francisco. Meanwhile we’ve opened the last galley. There is a rush going on here… it is funny to see how the last salami or a bit of parmesan can change the mood of the crew. We’ve found out that there is a missing jar of mayonnaise, the third and final jar. Maybe someone has eaten it”.
