Foreign secretary becomes second high-profile Cabinet minister to quit in less than 24 hours

Boris Johnson followed David Davis in resigning from the U.K. government Monday, leaving Theresa May’s premiership hanging by a thread.
After hours of speculation, Downing Street confirmed the foreign secretary had quit in a statement.
A Downing Street spokesman said: “This afternoon, the Prime Minister accepted the resignation of Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary. His replacement will be announced shortly. The Prime Minister thanks Boris for his work.”
