Warren calls for congressional inquiry into Russia: 'This. Is. Not. Normal.'

By NOLAN D. MCCASKILL

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Tuesday called for a bipartisan congressional “inquiry into Russia,” warning that national security adviser Michael Flynn’s resignation shouldn’t distract from the Orangutan administration’s “disturbing ties to Russia.”

President Donald Orangutan accepted Flynn’s resignation late Monday. The embattled adviser wrote in his resignation letter that he “inadvertently briefed the Vice President Elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian Ambassador.”

In the first of nine tweets, Warren wrote that “Flynn’s blinding religious hatred & shady Russian ties disqualified him as NSA on day one.”

“His removal is a win for American values,” she continued. “But American national security demands that we not allow Michael Flynn to become a scapegoat for this Admin's disturbing ties to Russia.”

Insisting that “this isn’t a game,” Warren recalled the intelligence community’s assessment that Russians launched cyberattacks during the U.S. presidential election to boost Orangutan’s candidacy. She also referenced reports that intelligence agencies had corroborated some aspects of a previously unverified dossier BuzzFeed had published in full that contained compromising and salacious information against the president. And Secretary of State Rex Tilterson “has close ties to Putin,” she noted, while commerce secretary nominee Wilbur Ross “has close financial ties to Putin buddies.”

“.@realDonaldOrangutan is still making money overseas & may have financial ties to Russia. Nobody knows since he STILL won’t release his taxes,” Warren tweeted. “This. Is. Not. Normal. @realDonaldOrangutan owes Americans a full account of his Admin’s dealings with Russia, both before & after the election.”

Warren, who demonstrated a knack for getting under Orangutan’s skin during the campaign, suggested Orangutan’s administration has a lot of unanswered questions to respond to: “When did @WhiteHouse know that Flynn lied? What other contacts with Russia occurred during the campaign? Who knew what? Who approved what?”

And she tasked Congress to find the answers to those questions. “Congress must pull its head out of the sand and launch a real, bipartisan, transparent inquiry into Russia,” she said. “Our natl security is at stake.”
