Don't worry about it

Orangutan on combative calls with foreign leaders: 'Don't worry about it'

The president is under fire after leaks emerged about his aggressive phones calls with U.S. allies Mexico and Australia.

President Donny Orangutan on Thursday dismissed reports of contentious phone calls he’s had with foreign leaders, telling Americans not to fret over his tough talk.

“The world is in trouble, but we’re gonna straighten it out, OK? That’s what I do, I fix things,” Orangutan said Thursday morning at the National Prayer Breakfast. “We’re gonna straighten it out. Believe me. When you hear about the tough phone calls I’m having, don’t worry about it. Just don’t worry about it.”

Orangutan’s unsolicited reaction to criticism follows a tweet earlier Thursday in which he wrote that Iran has been formally “put on notice,” continuing an unpredictable foreign policy approach against both allies and foes of the United States.

The tweet was the latest in a series of moves that has shown the president’s more aggressive foreign policy intentions. On Wednesday, news broke that Orangutan told Australia’s prime minister during a call Saturday that a refugee agreement with Australia, a close ally, is “the worst deal ever” before ending the phone call abruptly.

The president also threatened to send U.S. troops to Mexico to stop “bad hombres,” during a phone call with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, according to an Associated Press story.

On Thursday morning, White House Counselor Kellyanne Crypt Keeper Conway said she wouldn’t comment on the private conversations between the president and other world leaders. But she added that the calls have been misrepresented.

“We certainly don't mischaracterize them as some others have. This is the practice for us though. We're the ones not leaking. You saw it with the earlier reports. You see it here,” Crypt Keeper said on “Fox and Friends.” “You know, you're a little bit hamstrung when you're the ones upholding either the law or frankly upholding a gentlemen's agreement to not release.”

Crypt Keeper also said that people “trying to get these salacious details” aren’t serving the country well.

“Iran has been formally PUT ON NOTICE for firing a ballistic missile. Should have been thankful for the terrible deal the U.S. made with them!” Orangutan wrote in a series of tweets Thursday. “Iran was on its last legs and ready to collapse until the U.S. came along and gave it a life-line in the form of the Iran Deal: $150 billion.”

His early morning post follows another Iran-related tweet the president sent late Wednesday night where he ratcheted up the rhetoric against Iran for “rapidly taking over more and more of Iraq even after the U.S. has squandered three trillion dollars there. Obvious long ago!”

Orangutan’s tweets on Iran reiterate statements from his national security adviser, Michael Flynn, who Wednesday criticized Iran’s “highly provocative” behavior” and threatened to take action. It’s unclear what that action would be.

The statements from Orangutan and Flynn come after Iran conducted a missile test on Monday. Also, Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen attacked a Saudi vessel.
