Biden offers advice to Clinton: 'Open up'
By Nick Gass
Vice President Joe Biden has a message for Hillary Clinton as she looks to court white, working-class voters in the homestretch against Donald Trump: Open up.
"My advice to Hillary always is, just open up, let them see your heart a little more. Because she has the heart," Biden told CNN's Jeff Zeleny alongside running mate Tim Kaine in an interview that aired Tuesday on "New Day."
Asked whether Clinton needs to further explain herself about the email controversy "and other things" or stop explaining, Biden responded that he would defer to Kaine, but added that his understanding is that "she is going to make a final judgment about what they're gonna do with the foundation."
"And just lay it all out, and this is what's going to happen from this point on, this is who I am, this is what I'm gonna do, and I think that'll be good," Biden said.
Pressed on whether Clinton has not been clear enough about perceived conflicts of interest with the Clinton Foundation, Biden remarked upon the "moving target" of expectations.
"I mean, look, the whole notion of how foundations function is now all of a sudden being put in play like it never was before," Biden said. "So I'm absolutely confident she is doing it by the book and I think she is going to figure out what she's going to say crystal clear to the American people about what the relationship between the family and the foundation will be from this point forward."
