Kasich claims some credit for Bush's attacks on Trump
By ELIZA COLLINS
John Kasich wants everyone to know he started hitting Donald Trump first.
In a tweet Friday the Ohio governor took some credit for the series of attacks former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has been lobbing at the billionaire.
“Glad to see @JebBush following our lead, questioning @realDonaldTrump's readiness to lead,” Kasich tweeted Friday.
Kasich linked to a Washington Post item that included a video the Bush campaign had released showing Bush’s attacks on Trump during the Dec. 15 debate and clips of Trump’s interview gaffes. The Post item is called, “Jeb Bush should put this anti-Trump video on TV immediately.”
The Bush campaign and his super PAC have made it a personal mission to take on Trump after a fiery back and forth between the two candidates during the debate, during which Bush rolled out his "chaos candidate" line. Kasich had previously taken on the businessman, and his super PAC had announced a $2.5 million buy to hit Trump.
But on Tuesday's debate stage Kasich was noticeably quiet. And the Bush camp noticed.
Matt Gorman, director of rapid response for the Bush campaign, tweeted a response to Kasich Friday. "Cool tweet. Where were you on Tuesday when Trump was 10 feet away?" it read.
