Absolute World Towers, in Mississauga, Ontario was chosen by an international jury of experts as the best new building from 300 others that is at least 100 meters tall and completed last year.
Absolute World Towers were designed by the architectural practices MAD and Burka Architects.
"The way the two structures twist organically by up to 8 degrees per floor is not just a superb technical achievement, but also a refreshing change to the set forms of high-rise routine," the jury panel wrote.
Al Bahr Towers in Abu Dhabi, computers rotate the outer skin of the facades in response to the sun's position, saving on cooling costs. This design came in second place.
Third place went to Burj Qatar, in Doha, Qatar, Designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel.
The Bow is 30 percent lighter than other buildings of its size, thanks to innovative use of steel and glass. The Bow came in forth place is in Calgary, Alberta Canada.
