Interview US diplomat’s wife

UK police interview US diplomat’s wife over teenager’s death

Family of Harry Dunn say they will take legal action against suspect in the case as well as the US administration.

British police have interviewed the wife of a U.S. diplomat in connection with a road crash in which a 19-year-old was killed.

Northamptonshire Police said details of the interview with Anne Sacoolas, which was conducted in the U.S., would be passed on to the U.K.'s Crown Prosecution Service, according to Sky News.

Sacoolas is believed to have been driving on the wrong side of the road when she hit Harry Dunn's motorbike outside a Royal Air Force base on August 27. After the crash, Sacoolas left the U.K. against the wishes of the Foreign Office, claiming diplomatic immunity.

Last week, the head of Northamptonshire Police said Sacoolas had asked to be interviewed by British police officers.

The Dunn family's lawyers have launched legal action against the U.K. Foreign Office and said they are working on a civil claim for damages against Sacoolas. They are also looking into what they called the "lawless misconduct" of U.S. President Donald Trump's administration "and then the attempt to cover that up."

A Dunn family spokesman told the Mail: "We are looking at a significant compensation claim that will be in the region of millions of dollars. Bearing in mind that millions of dollars are paid in compensation in the U.S. if you get a cup of coffee spilt over you, then what price for the death of a son?"

Trump met Dunn's parents in the White House two weeks ago during which he made an unexpected offer for them to meet Sacoolas. They declined.
