He was lying......

NOTHING TO SEE HERE

By Bill Maher

When reporters asked Donald Trump if he knew anything about Michael Cohen’s payments to Stormy Daniels, he said no, he didn’t. When they asked if he knew where the money came from he responded, “No, I don’t know.” Except that he did know. He was lying.

Now reporters have asked Trump if he knew Paul Manafort was sharing polling data from his campaign with the Russians. Trump responded, “No. I didn’t know anything about that.”

I’m just saying, he’s got a history of not being entirely truthful.

We’ve now got Paul Manafort, Trump’s then-campaign chairman, handing over internal polling data to a Russia intelligence asset at a secret meeting in Madrid, Spain. But when asked about this, Republican Senator James Lankford said this didn’t bother him because "this was someone Paul Manafort had known for a very long time and trusted.”

Try that one next time your wife catches you having an affair — “It’s okay, baby. She’s my girlfriend from college. We’ve known each other a very long time."

Similarly, we’ve also learned that Trump makes sure the details of all of his one-on-one communications with Vladimir Putin are his little secret. Much like his morning hair routine. On CNN’s State of the Union, Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin was asked if he was comfortable with Trump hiding the notes of his meetings with Putin and the fact that the Kremlin knows more about these meetings than US intelligence and the national security community. He responded, “This is not a traditional president. He has unorthodox means but he is President of the United States. It’s pretty much up to him in terms of who he wants to read into his conversations with world leaders.”

Republicans, I feel the need to ask: Why are you covering up for History’s Greatest Liar, especially when you don’t even know what you’re covering up?
