Wax museum...

Spicer defends Trumps' marriage at wax museum

'I’m sure they have their moments,' the former press secretary said.

Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Wednesday found himself in the bizarre position of defending the first couple’s marriage while wax replicas of President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump loomed threateningly behind him.
Fake or Fake??

“I’m sure they have their moments like any couple does," said Spicer, who was on hand at Madame Tussauds New York in Midtown Manhattan to unveil the museum’s life-size wax likeness of the first lady — clad in a royal blue dress and posed alongside a wax rendering of her husband in a reproduction of the Oval Office.

But even in a building full of lifeless figurines, Spicer couldn’t avoid fielding shouted follow-up questions from a handful of assembled reporters who wanted to know whether Melania Trump ever appeared angry with the president during Spicer’s seven months in the West Wing.

“Not that I ever saw,” he said. “She was always supportive in public and in private.”

Spicer was also pressed on the Trumps’ sometimes awkward public displays of affection, including occasional attempts by the president to hold Melania Trump’s hand during official events, only to be batted away by a seemingly unenthusiastic first lady.

“As a spouse of 14 years, I’ve had my own awkward moments,” Spicer said, laughing uncomfortably. “But I think that there's a genuine love and concern, and that's the most important part.”

The state of the first couple’s marriage has been the subject of frequent media speculation as allegations of extra-marital relationships against the president have continued to surface in recent months.

Following reports in January that the president’s longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen, paid porn actress Stormy Daniels $130,000 to prevent her from discussing an alleged sexual encounter with Donald Trump from 2006, Melania Trump broke from longstanding tradition and arrived at her husband’s first State of the Union address with her guests in her own motorcade.

And earlier this month, former Playboy model Karen McDougal reached a settlement with American Media Inc., owners of the National Enquirer tabloid, that will free her from a contract that barred her from openly discussing an alleged 10-month affair with Donald Trump that she claims took place in 2006 and 2007.

The Trumps married in January 2005, and their son, Barron, was born in March 2006.
