Warren whacks Trump in late-night tweetstorm
By POLITICO Staff
Elizabeth Warren wasted no time welcoming Donald Trump to the 2016 general election — by hitting him with a blistering late-night tweetstorm in which she cast the presumptive Republican nominee as a racist with a dangerous authoritarian streak.
The Massachusetts senator's tweets made no mention of Bernie Sanders' upset win in Indiana, where he defeated Hillary Clinton by 5 percentage points. Warren has yet to endorse in the Democratic primary, though she is expected to eventually back Clinton.
And while it wasn't the first time she has gone after Trump — she called him a "loser" in March — its timing suggested that she's ready to put the primary behind her and play an aggressive role in taking on her fellow populist.
.@realDonaldTrump is now the leader of the @GOP. It's real - he is one step away from the White House.
Here’s what else is real: @realDonaldTrump has built his campaign on racism, sexism, and xenophobia.

.@realDonaldTrump incites supporters to violence, praises Putin, and is "cool with being called an authoritarian."
