Herman Cain on Trump: Get over it
By Nolan D. McCaskill
Herman Cain delivered a message to a Republican establishment intent on blunting Donald Trump’s path to the nomination: Get over it.
The New York billionaire dominated Super Tuesday, winning seven states and more than tripling his delegate haul from where he stood following the Nevada caucuses last week. Party elites have recently swung behind Marco Rubio as the GOP's last, best hope to stop Trump, but the Florida senator won just one state Tuesday.
“I believe that the establishment needs to get over it and just allow the people to speak, and so far 285 delegates — that’s not a fluke,” Cain, a retired pizza executive and 2012 presidential candidate, told Fox News on Wednesday morning. “Get over it, establishment.”
Trump has spurred record turnout in the Republican primary and racked up wide margins of victory in an array of states. On Tuesday night, speaking inside a gilded hall at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Trump boasted that he’s bringing Democrats and independents to the party — and Cain agreed.
“They party is expanding,” Cain said. “They ought to be celebrating what Donald Trump is doing for the Republican Party at this particular point, but instead they’re pushing back.”
