Walker mulling Cruz or Kasich endorsement
By Nick Gass
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is considering an endorsement of either Ted Cruz or John Kasich ahead of his state's April 5 primary, but he says he would not appear with the candidate he decides to endorse.
"I'm not just doing it for the heck of it," Walker said Tuesday, according to a report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "If I think it can have a positive impact, if it can have somewhat of an impact on how voters see the candidates and if that's someone who aligns with my beliefs, I'll make an endorsement. But I haven't made that decision yet."
Walker expressed "high admiration" for both Cruz and Kasich, but also did not say whether he would support Donald Trump if he became the Republican nominee.
Walker, who dropped out of the race last September, has long made known his disdain of Trump. "Today, I believe that I'm being called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race for a positive conservative message to rise to the top of the field," he said last Sept. 21 in Madison — remarks widely interpreted as a shot at Trump.
