Chris Christie steals Donald Trump's show

By Chris Moody

Donald Trump won big on Super Tuesday, but Chris Christie nearly stole the show at Trump's election-night event.

The New Jersey governor, who endorsed Trump on Friday, introduced the real estate mogul during a Super Tuesday press conference. But as Trump began speaking, people couldn't stop talking about the look on Christie's face.

It's been a bumpy road for Christie ever since he endorsed Trump last week. Seconds after Christie finished proclaiming his support, Trump ordered him to "get on the plane and go home," an awkward exchange that was caught on camera and quickly spread around the Internet.

Then, on Sunday, Trump stumbled when asked on CNN if he rejected support from white supremacists like former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.

"I don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists," Trump told CNN's Jake Tapper. "So I don't know. I don't know -- did he endorse me, or what's going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke; I know nothing about white supremacists."

Trump, who later blamed the incident on a faulty earpiece, pointed to a press conference Friday in which he disavowed Duke and reiterated that he did not want white supremacists' support. Christie declined to take questions about Trump's strange response, telling reporters at a press conference Monday that it was "off-topic.''

This week, it got worse for Christie. On Tuesday, six New Jersey newspapers joined in an effort to call on Christie to resign for the state governorship.

"What an embarrassment. What an utter disgrace," the papers wrote in a joint editorial. "For the good of the state, it's time for Christie to do his long-neglected constituents a favor and resign as governor. If he refuses, citizens should initiate a recall effort."
