Christie complains

Chris Christie complains to Megyn Kelly about Trump coverage

By Nick Gass

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie expressed frustration with the way Donald Trump and Jeb Bush have exchanged barbs, arguing on Fox News' "The Kelly File" on Monday night that "nobody cares."

Then he brought out his Trump impression.

"Look, I've watched this Jeb Bush-Donald Trump food fight. Let me clue them in on something: Nobody cares," the GOP presidential candidate told host Megyn Kelly. "You think anybody around the country who's a middle-class family sitting around the kitchen table tonight worrying about how they're going to pay for their kid's college, how they're going to get a job."

People around the country don't care about whether "Jeb should be speaking Spanish or is he low energy," or whether Trump and Hillary Clinton have said nice things about each other at some point in time, Christie said.

Asked by Kelly why no one watches more substantive speeches from other candidates, Christie offered his own opinion.

"Well, it may just be that they just don't agree with or like what they're hearing from those candidates," he said.

"That's it. We've got to put on more Chris Christie talking about entitlements," Kelly responded sarcastically.

Christie then imitated Trump and his frequent predictions (often correct) that his appearances on TV networks would deliver top ratings. (Last Friday night, for example, Trump's interview with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" drew the program's highest Friday ratings in 18 months.)

"Your ratings will go through the roof. Skyrocketing. Skyrocketing. You want ratings? Christie is ratings. Ratings, Megyn. Total ratings. Big. Big. Very big," he predicted. "How's that? Is that good? I'm trying."
