Sailing in December...

My brother was being cruel to me. He sent me a couple of pictures of his weekend sail.. So this is December in San Francisco bay, looks nice. His boat is in Marin County, just north of San Francisco and he sails down and around Angle Island and the Tiburon area mostly. On this day he happened upon the Il' Hydroptere foiling tri that 'was' the fastest sail boat untill the Sail Rocket broke its record last month. These two boats were trading records, but now the Sail Rocket has really moved ahead with a 68 knot max speed. Hydropter's best was about 60 knots. Though Hydroptere can sail more like a boat, meaning you can sail from place to place, Sail Rocket is meant for just one thing, speed. In any case, they are both amazing craft and seeing one is very special. If you are in San Francisco and want to see Hydroptere, you will have to head north to Tiburon and look for the boat on the hook at Angle Island. You can also take a short ferry ride to the island and get a closer look, plus spend some time walking on a very nice island which has wonderful views of the city and surroundings.
