Hydroptere 2

The engineers of Hydroptere, the naval architects of VPLP (designers of BMW ORACLE and Banque Populaire V) and the structural engineering office HDS (Artemis Racing, Volvo Ocean Race Groupama Racing, MOD70), supported by the sailors of the program, have already started designing Hydroptere successor: a trimaran, code name “TH10”, a currently soberly named Hydroptere 2.

The general geometry of Hydroptere, designed in the '90s, is approaching the limit of its racing potential. Hydroptere 2 (TH10) is the sum of 25 years of experience in high-speed foil sailing aboard the hydrofoiler and is built using the latest technology in the field of oceanic Archimedean multihulls. As a hybrid sailboat, Hydroptere 2 (TH10) will be capable of flying fast on rough seas while still able to sail on its hulls when light wind conditions impede flight. Its objective will be to conquer two major ocean records: the Atlantic crossing and 24 hours distance travelled.
