House Oversight probing whether Chao improperly helped her family's company
By TANYA SNYDER
The House Oversight Committee is investigating Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao’s potential use of her official position to benefit her family’s shipping company.
The committee sent Chao a letter today asking her for all communications since President Donald Trump‘s inauguration between DOT and the Foremost Group and other related documentation.
The investigation, first reported by The New York Times, stems from reports from POLITICO and the Times about the ways in which Chao’s actions in office may have benefited her family business.
The committee is also looking into Chao’s failure to divest from the Vulcan Materials Company after becoming secretary.
