Cuts into broadcast.....

'The president isn't telling the truth': MSNBC cuts into broadcast of Trump press conference

By Alix Martichoux

During President Donald Trump's second public speaking engagement of the day, MSNBC cut him off mid-sentence.

Trump repeatedly referred to the impeachment inquiry as a "hoax" and a "witch hunt." He also claimed Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., as well as other Democrats, "literally threatened the president of Ukraine that if he doesn't do things right they won't have Democrat support in Congress."

Murphy recently met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev, in which he warned Zelensky not to interfere in U.S. elections.

"We hate to do this, really, but the president isn't telling the truth," said MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace. "These allegations against Joe Biden and Hunter Biden have been investigated by the Ukrainians."

Wallace continued, "What's amazing is what Trump appears to be trying to do is to turn his own impeachment into a big deflection."

Trump was speaking to the press from the UN General Assembly in New York. He argued the diplomacy he conducted this week has been overshadowed by a conversation in which he urged Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Democratic political rival Joe Biden.

Trump told reporters he met with nearly 20 different world leaders during three days in New York, and signed a partial trade agreement with Japan. But he says that, instead of covering those topics, journalists choose to waste their time covering "nonsense."

Trump is referring to reports that he pressured Ukraine's leader to investigate Biden.

The White House has released a rough transcript of the July conversation in which Trump repeatedly asked Zelensky to open an investigation.

Zelinsky says no one "pushed" him.

Trump said at the press conference that there was "no push, no pressure, no nothing."
