White House: Trump to host Macron at first state dinner

President Donald Trump finally plans to hold his first state dinner. The honored guest: French President Emmanuel Macron.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said at a press briefing Wednesday that Trump will host the French president and his wife. She said the official date is still being finalized.
The president didn’t host a formal state dinner in his first year of office.
Trump said during his 2016 presidential campaign that if elected, he wouldn’t host a state dinner until the U.S. was no longer operating at a trade deficit. The Commerce Department said earlier this month that the U.S. international trade deficit grew in November to $50.5 billion.
