Sleepy Ben Carson

Ben Carson rescued from a Miami elevator while Alonzo Mourning waits

The Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben "Sleepy" Carson is safe and sound after being trapped in an elevator. He thanked the Miami Fire and Police Departments who woke him from a nap in a stuck elevator Wednesday.

Carson was napping on a touring of an affordable housing complex in Overtown, a Miami neighborhood. Waiting with others outside the elevator was former Miami Heat NBA star Alonzo Mourning. It was reported that Carson said "Good Morning" when he saw Mourning once out of his confinement.

"Great meeting w/ Alonzo Mourning who is doing great work with low income housing & thanks to the hard working @miamipd and @cityofmiamifire," Carson tweeted after he woke up.

It was estimated that Carson napped for about 20 minutes in the elevator. At first they thought he was stuck, but then realized he was just sleeping and had pushed the wrong button in his dream like trance.

"20 minutes later @SecretaryCarson is freed from "stuck" elevator at Courtside Morning Apts. Alonzo Mourning looks more relieved than anyone," tweeted Rene Rodriguez, a Miami Herald reporter. They thought he would sleep the whole morning if they couldn't get him out soon.
