No vote...

Hogan vetoes voting rights bill for ex-felons

By Associated Press

Gov. Larry Hogan has vetoed a bill that would have allowed ex-felons to vote before finishing their probation.

Hogan vetoed the bill Friday, along with several other measures.

The state Senate passed the voting bill this year with 29 votes, the minimum needed to override a veto. But the House passed it with 83 votes, two short needed for an override.

The Republican governor also vetoed a bill that would have clarified the law to require third-party travel websites to pay all required sales tax.

Another bill Hogan vetoed would have decriminalized smoking marijuana in public, as well as the possession of drug paraphernalia. Lawmakers decriminalized possession of a small amount of marijuana last year, but possession of paraphernalia is still a crime on the books.
