Tensiometer

So what is a tensiometer??? Well a tension meter is what is used to see how much tension is on the stays (those are the cables that hold a mast up on a sail boat). To have a proper rig, the stays must be tight enough to support the mast but can not be so tight that they do not allow the mast to flex with the changing loads as the boat sails. To test the tension, a device is used to see how much movement it allowed on the cable stays. There are many different tension tools, you can even just pull on them with your hands to see how loose they are. But here are a few pictures of interesting means of testing the tension....
