El Cuervo plate |
As always, I have to get Mexican food when in
San Diego. There is nothing like an order of rolled tacos after surfing or a plate for lunch or a big burrito after a few beers. This trip I went to a few old favorite places like
La Posta De Acapulco's on
Washington Street or
Nico's Mexican Food in
Ocean Beach on
Newport. These places you will never see on TV or talked about, these are just the common taco shops that are all over town. The menu is about the same at each place, but some have a specialty or just make one item really good. Rolled tacos are a standard item at most places, Nico’s makes good one fresh in the shop. Another good hole in the wall is El Cuervo also on
Washington Street, good classic food with no frills.

Blind Lady Ale House on Adams Ave |
San Diego is also a beer town,
Blind Lady Ale House is a new place that opened a few years ago and has a large selection of local and world beers. It is a fun place, they have food as well, stop by and give it a try. It is on Adams Ave between the 405 and 15 Freeways. I don't drink much Beer any more but I met a friend and well I had to have a pint. Of course we had to walk across the street to the Old Sod, a classic Irish bar. There is also Rosie O'Gradies but I don't go there much. If you are in San Diego, give one of these places a try, definitely a locals type place, off the tourist track.
