1100 mile drive

Palm trees and some clouds before I head out
This is a series of pictures from my drive from San Diego to Portland, it is about 1100 miles on Highway 5 and starts early in the morning and cover two days. I stopped in Sacramento to spend the night then finished the next day. The first section took 7 1/2 hours with stopping for gas once. The second section took 8 1/2 hours again stopping once for gas. These are some sights you would see, from the palm trees and beaches, cities, valley and mountains.

Approaching one of my favorite beaches, Torry Pines State Beach

Del Mar beach in San Diego county

The last view of the ocean at San Clemente

Downtown LA, it takes about 2 1/2 hours to cross on a good day

On the 'Grape Vine' leaving LA, this is a 60 mile stretch going over the San Gabriel mountains

Down from the mountains and in the valley now, cattle in the south then lots of farms and orchards

Not much in the valley, they grow a lot of Olives here though

Morning and still in the valley

Approaching Mt Shasta and Oregon soon to follow

Just past Shasta

Oregon and some snow

Typical Oregon, trees and more trees

Just off the highway and in Portland
