Trump’s Kansas and Iowa rallies are back on after being canceled
President Donald Trump’s weekend rallies in Kansas and Iowa are back.
The Midwest swing was canceled Thursday to make time for the president to host roughly 20 tele-rallies, according to two people familiar with the president’s plans.
But on Friday the plans changed — again.
Trump will now rally supporters Sunday in the two states — which both have tight Senate contests — in addition to, not instead of, the tele-rallies, said the people, who were granted anonymity to share details of the planning.
“Back by popular demand. Feeling bullish about both states, but it’s about giving the people what they want,” one of the people said.
White House aides had said Thursday that the switch to tele-rallies over in-person trips was made in response to high demand from campaigns across the country clamoring for the president to return. The Republican National Committee also framed the decision as a response to the party’s “strong” position in Iowa and Kansas, with the latest polls showing both races within the margin of error.
