Senior Iranian official threatens Trump again

The head of Iran’s National Security Council has warned US President Donald Trump that he should watch out so as “not to get eliminated.”
Ali Larijani, one of the most powerful figures in Iran, said that the “nation of Iran does not fear your empty threats,” in a post on X Tuesday.
“Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation. Watch out for yourselves,” Larijani added.
It’s the second time in recent days that Larijani has implied Trump might be targeted.
On Saturday he said Trump must “pay the price” for the US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
“I have no idea what he’s talking about or who he is. I couldn’t care less,” Trump responded.
Larijani’s latest remarks were in reaction to a social media post by Trump, in which, he warned that Iran would be hit 20 times harder if it blocked the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump also said that the United States will destroy targets that would make it virtually impossible for Iran to be rebuilt if it blocked the Strait.
In a later post, Larijani said the Strait of Hormuz “will either be a Strait of peace and prosperity for all or will be a Strait of defeat and suffering for warmongers.”
In November 2024, the US Justice department announced federal charges connected to a thwarted Iranian plot to kill Trump before the presidential election that year.
The alleged plot was the latest revealed by US prosecutors in a growing list of Iranian plans to kill Trump, according to national security officials.
