Trump says he doesn't "know too much about" Israel's Gaza City offensive
From CNN's Kevin Liptak
We’ve heard today from President Donald Trump now on Israel’s offensive in Gaza City. He stopped short of offering a view, saying he didn’t have many details of the ground incursion.
“I have to see. I don’t know too much about it,” Trump said when questioned about the operation to take control of the urban area in the besieged Palestinian enclave.
Instead of offering a stance on the Israeli operation, Trump zeroed on on Hamas’ use of hostages as human shields.
“Hamas is using the old human shield deal,” he said. “If they do that, they’re in big trouble.”
“If they put the hostages in front of them, Hamas, as protection, they call them bodyguards, they’re going to have hell to pay,” he added later.
Trump has previously been publicly agnostic on Israel’s plans to launch a ground invasion, saying it was a decision for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
