A worker with Yosemite Hospitality, the concessionaire in Yosemite National Park, fell to his death while rock climbing in the park, according to a spokesperson with Aramark Corporation, the parent company of Yosemite Hospitality. The worker’s name has not yet been released.
Few other details were immediately available from either Aramark or Yosemite, but representatives from both the corporation and the National Park Service acknowledged the recent fatality.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic climbing accident,” Aramark spokesperson Sheena Weinstein wrote in an email to SFGATE. “Our sympathies are with the family and friends at this difficult time.”
“The National Park Service is aware of the recent incident which led to the death of a concession employee in Yosemite National Park,” a Yosemite spokesperson wrote in an email to SFGATE. “The incident is currently under investigation and no further information is available.”
The accident, which occurred while the employee was off the clock, was first reported by a local newspaper, the Mariposa Gazette.
