The guy who broke into Pelosi's office at Capitol riots threw a hissy fit in court

Richard Barnett, the Arkansas man who infamously was captured with a grin, a shrug and his feet on a desk in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office during the Capitol riots, threw a tantrum during what reporters described as routine court proceedings.
A New York Times report found that Barnett burst into a fit Thursday afternoon when Judge Christopher Cooper effectively extended his time in jail until May, when his next court trial will take place.
“I’ve been here a long time … another month … It’s not fair,” he exclaimed to the court, per KNWA in Arkansas. “You’re letting everyone else out … I need help.”
He was videoconferencing into the D.C. federal court from jail, where he’s stayed since early January — when he was one of the first to be arrested and charged following the riots for his brazen, well-publicized behavior. He stole an envelope from Pelosi's desk addressed to Rep. Billy Long, R-Mo, but claimed it wasn't theft because he left some change on her desk.
“They’re dragging this out!” he added, according to the Times.
The court entered recess in an effort to calm him down. Cooper then advised the defendant’s attorneys that he can apply for bail, which would require a separate hearing, per KNWA.
Barnett's next court appearance is scheduled for May. 4.
His attorneys did not immediately respond to a request for comment from SFGATE.
