Confirm Biden win

Recounts in Wisconsin confirm Biden win

President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign had requested recounts in the state’s most populous counties earlier this month.

Two major Wisconsin counties have completed recounts of the presidential election, confirming President-elect Joe Biden’s win in the state.

Dane County, which includes Madison, announced its recount results on Sunday. County Clerk Scott McDonnell provided the results in a tweet, confirming the Biden-Harris lead.

Milwaukee County announced its recount results on Friday, finding a 132-vote gain for the Biden-Harris ticket.

President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign requested recounts in the state’s most populous counties earlier this month.

A tweet from the president on Saturday indicated that more legal challenges to the results were coming, though the deadline to certify results in the state is Tuesday.

The Trump campaign on Sunday asserted in a statement, without providing any evidence or details, that the recounts “revealed serious issues regarding the legality of ballots cast,“ and said it would continue to “fight for a free and fair election.“

The Wisconsin recount is the latest in a series of failed efforts from the Trump campaign to overturn the presidential election results.

Lawsuits challenging the results have been thrown out or dismissed by judges in Arizona and Pennsylvania, and added pressure from the campaign on Michigan officials to delay the certification of the results amounted to nothing.

A recount in Georgia confirmed Biden’s win Nov. 20, and days later Trump’s campaign requested another recount.
