Eric and Don Jr. hit back at Jeb: We love our father
By LOUIS NELSON
President Donald Trump's two adult sons lashed out at former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush this week after Bush appeared to suggest in a speech at Yale University that the president’s children do not love him.
In remarks on “restoring conservatism in America,” Bush told his Yale audience that he “went home to my children that actually love me” after losing to Trump in South Carolina’s Republican primary, according to the Yale Daily News. The student newspaper reported that the remark had been a dig at Trump and later issued a correction that although Bush had not mentioned the president by name, the comment had been interpreted as a joke about Trump and his family.
Trump’s two adult sons quickly responded via Twitter, agreeing with the Yale audience that Bush’s remarks had been intended as a jab at their family.
“.@JebBush I actually love my father very much. #PleaseClap,” Eric Trump wrote online Wednesday night, linking to a story about Bush’s apparent shot at the Trump family. Donald Trump Jr. followed just after midnight on Thursday with his own response.
“Jeb! I love everything about my father. I love that he’s a fighter, I love that he has guts, I love that he’s President (all those things you’re not),” he wrote. “Also love that he learned enough about politics in a few weeks to dismantle you piece by piece despite it being your life’s work.”
