Pruitt’s spending

Mulvaney will investigate Pruitt’s spending

By ANTHONY ADRAGNA

White House budget director Mick Mulvaney told a House Appropriations subpanel he would probe EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt's spending, especially his procurement of a $43,000 privacy booth.

"I'm not interested in covering for anybody else," Mulvaney told the House Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee. "I'm not any happier about it than you are."

"We will investigate them," he added.

Mulvaney's comments come two days after the Government Accountability Office found EPA violated the Antideficiency Act by failing to notify Congress about the expense above $5,000.

EPA has acknowledged it had not notified Congress about it.

"EPA disagrees with GAO's legal conclusion that this expenditure also required notice to Congress, but we are addressing GAO's concern with regard to Congressional notification," EPA spokesman Jahan Wilcox said Wednesday.
